About Go To Badshah Tomb
Srinagar is home to many natural and manmade wonders. One example of the latter is the Badshah Tomb. It was the final resting place of the mother of Sultan Zain-Ul-Abidin who was commonly and respectfully referred to as ‘Badshah’, ‘Budshah’ or ‘The Great King’ by his people. His reign over Kashmir (over 50 years) was considered one of the most peaceful periods for the region. The Badshah Tomb is a great place to see the typical Shahmiri architectural style. The memorial site is located on the right banks of the River Jhelum. This 15th century, multi-domed tomb was built within an ancient graveyard. It is a one-of-a-kind tomb in the area as the usual edifices and tombs of that era were made of wood.
