YARAB TSO LAKE

Situated around 15 kms from the sacred Diskit region in Nubra valley, Yarab Tso Lake makes it home in the serene surroundings of the Sumur village.

Tucked away in the Nubra Valley, YARAB TSO LAKE is Ladakh’s best kept secret. This pretty lake is situated some 15 kms from Diskit Region and is believed as a sacred place in Ladakh.Situated around 15 kms from the sacred Diskit region in Nubra valley, Yarab Tso Lake makes it home in the serene surroundings of the Sumur village. It is a high altitude lake that is hidden in the Sumur Village and can only be reached by trekking. Though it is possible to reach this holy lake by foot from Panamik Village, tourists are asked not to wash or swim in the water of this lake.

Getting There

By Road

The sacred Yarab Tso lake rests in the magnetic Nubra valley, so travelling by road is the only option to reach here after some point. One can hire jeeps to get through the Nubra and travel to Sumur village in order to reach Yarab Tso lake.

By Air

Leh is the closest you can travel by air if you wish to visit the sacred lake. Kushok Bakula Rinpoche airport in Leh is well connected to the other parts of India.

By Rail

Travelling via train is also an option to get close to the Nubra valley. The closest railway station to Nubra is at Jammu.

Best Time to Visit
The months from July to September are ideal to visit Yarab Tso. The weather becomes pleasant during these months and the roads are cleared of the snow.
